Anticipated 2010

Okay, this is a little premature, but I assume the new release calendar will slow down for the balance of 2009, and I want to begin looking at what's on the horizon. So: This is the thread for albums you're anticipating in 2010.

Madvillian looks like they'll finally release a follow-up disc in 2010! (The article doesn't say when the new disc will appear, but it notes that they're "hard at work" on it, so I'm hopeful.

ALso: New album by The Books in early 2010 (see, e.g., video performance of new song).

I'd love to see the Midlake album here, but I doubt it will be available in the U.S. market, at least.

I got Von Occupanther album here. I hadn't noticed that it was gone now, though. Did we lose that label?

Long overdue new album by Swedish jazz-electronica-orchestral types Jaga Jazzist set for February. Yum.

A couple I'm looking forward to include the new Yeasayer (I love that band), the hopeful release of the delayed Beastie Boys (if for no other reason than it means MCA is healthy enough to tour), and I am cautiously anticipating the new Vampire Weekend (love the first album, but "Horchata" doesn't really do it for me, so I'm a bit nervous about the new one).

I'm also shocked and happy that a new Eels will already be coming out in January.

Totally agree with your Yeasayer and VW assessments.

I'm REALLY looking forward to Miles Kurosky's solo debut (Lord, I miss Beulah)

And I think A Mountain of One and/or Field Music have new ones in the pipeline...

Four of my all-time favorite artists are all rumored to have new discs out in 2010:

Over the Rhine, Sufjan Stevens, Patty Griffin, the National.

If I can convince Bon Iver to do something, then it will be all of my top five next year. Which might be awesome.

Wiki's got an entry about events in music for 2010. It mentions albums in 2010 by Courtney Love (01.01.10); The Streets (02.23.10); Frightened Rabbit; Liars; Portishead; Radiohead; The Shins; The Strokes; Amy Winehouse; Gorillaz; Christina Agularia; Devo; Julian Lennon; Stone Temple Pilots; TLC; and Wang Chung!

Lots to look forward to.

Hot Chip's new disc, One Life Stand, is released on February 9.

Gorillaz's new disc, tentatively-titled Plastic Beach, is in the works.

Serena Maneesh's new disc is out in March on 4AD.

The Magnetic Fields' new disc, Realism, is released on January 26.

Unfortunately, of the above, I think only the S-M disc will be available on eMusic (that's the one I'm most anxious to hear, BTW). Anyway, 2010 looks like a great year.
